Bushenyi, Uganda – A mob justice incident in Ishaka town, Bushenyi district, has claimed the life of a 42-year-old man. Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the death.
On the early morning of April 7th, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., security guards on Kikuubo Street apprehended a 42-year-old man, Muhanguzi Innocent, after allegedly finding him near Duncan’s shop.
The guards then dragged him approximately 70 meters to Edison’s shop and began assaulting him, reportedly for attempting to break into the shop.

Eyewitnesses, including a gym attendant who filmed part of the altercation, and a boda boda rider, reported seeing the guards, identified as Hillary, Edison, and others, using sticks and electric wires in the assault.
The filming led to the security guards chasing the witness away. Following the assault, Matsiko Bernard, a boda boda rider, observed Hillary, Edison, and another suspect, later identified as Mwikirize Innocent (alias Master Red), continuing the assault. Mwikirize, the alleged mastermind of the attack, then reported the incident to Ishaka Police Station at approximately 6:58 a.m.
The deceased’s body was found lying in front of Edison’s shop, displaying multiple external injuries. A pair of pliers was discovered near the body.
Edison’s shop was closed at the time of the police investigation, but it was unlocked. No report of a shop breaking had been filed.
Police responded to the scene, including a CID team, SOCO (Scene of Crime Office) personnel, and uniformed officers. Statements were taken from witnesses, and the crime scene was documented by the SOCO team. The body of the deceased was transported to KIU Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Two suspects, Edison, the shop owner, and Mwikirize Innocent, have been arrested to assist with the ongoing investigations.
“Initial inquiries have been opened under CRB:314/2025,” said Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime. “The investigation is ongoing.”
The incident highlights the complex issues of vigilante justice and the need for swift and thorough police investigation in upholding the rule of law.
End.
