Mbarara, Uganda – The race for Mbarara City Mayor is intensifying, with a dramatic clash erupting between incumbent Robert Kakyebezi and challenger Hon. Mbwatekamwa Gaffa, the Member of Parliament for Igara West.
Hon Gaffa, a former MP for Kassanda Constituency, has confidently declared his invincibility, asserting his superior political acumen will secure him victory.
In a video circulating on social media, Hon Gaffa boasted of his experience, claiming, “I cannot fear these people because I have knowledge from my time as a central Member of Parliament, in Igara West Constituency, and now here in the city; I can easily handle them all.” He went so far as to urge Mayor Kakyebezi to concede defeat and hand over the keys to the office to avoid public humiliation.
However, Kakyebezi has responded defiantly in his own video, dismissing Gaffa as a “political joker” who offers voters nothing but empty rhetoric to garner sympathy votes. He criticized Gaffa’s past performance in Kassanda and Igara West, stating, “He went to Kassanda and did nothing, went to Igara West and also failed to perform, but now he wants to come and fail our city. We cannot succeed a cow with a dog, so we must chase him out of our city.”
This verbal sparring match signals a heated campaign ahead. This website will continue to monitor this developing political battle and provide updates as the situation unfolds.
End.
