NEWS -In a dramatic turn of events, Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna of the Diocese of Kigezi has amicably resolved his differences with Kabale-based radio presenter Asiimwe Rodgers Obwengula, according to sources.
Insiders, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that the issues were settled during a tense meeting earlier today at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) headquarters in Bugolobi, Kampala.
Bishop Akanjuna had lodged a complaint against Obwengula, a presenter at K-town Radio, accusing him of consistently defaming the Bishop on air. This complaint prompted UCC to summon the entire management of K-town Radio, along with Obwengula and Bishop Akanjuna, for a meeting aimed at resolving the matter.

The heated meeting was attended by UCC’s legal team, K-town Radio’s manager, station editor, producer, and Obwengula, as well as Ven. Oscar Mwesigwa, the Archdeacon of Bubare C.O.U in Rubanda District, representing Bishop Akanjuna.
During the meeting, recordings from Obwengula’s radio program were analyzed, and he was asked to defend his remarks and disclose his sources of information, particularly those that had aggrieved the Bishop and other church leaders, including Ven. Oscar.
While Obwengula defended his on-air statements, he declined to reveal his sources.
After a lengthy discussion filled with accusations and subsequent defenses, K-town Radio’s management agreed to issue a formal apology to the Bishop.
According to Ven. Oscar, who represented the Bishop, they sought only a formal apology from K-town Radio’s management and a commitment to address the presenter’s provocative conduct toward the Church.
The station manager revealed that Obwengula is already facing suspension from on-air programming and will issue an apology upon his return to the microphone. The manager also assured that measures would be put in place to prevent Obwengula from attacking the Bishop’s character in the future.
When contacted, Ven. Oscar confirmed his role in representing the Bishop but declined to comment further, citing the need to brief the Bishop first.
Obwengula corroborated the narrative, stating, “I will serve my suspension as agreed and return to work later, but the Bishop and I have no issues anymore.”
