BUSHENYI, UGANDA – Tugume Boniface, a resident of Kyamuhunga, is steadily gaining support from voters in Kiyagara, Nyabubaare, who are impressed by his dedication to supporting development initiatives and empowering communities.
Agaba Willy, Mukasa Swaibu, and Turinawe Penlope, all residents of Kiyagara, have abandoned their previous allegiance to Paul Kahiigi Turyamureeba, citing Tugume’s vision for supporting households and networking opportunities as key factors in their decision.
Tugume, who narrowly lost to Amanya Cohen Kyampene in the NRM primaries, has vowed to stand as an independent candidate, citing irregularities in the party’s lining-up election. His philanthropic efforts through the Boniface Foundation, particularly in education and religion, have earned him recognition as a leader with a “working heart” for his constituents.

As the political landscape heats up, other candidates, including former candidate Horace Muhabuzi, are also vying for support. However, the contest is shaping up to be a tight race between Amanya Cohen Kyampene (NRM flagbearer) and Tugume Boniface (independent), with early polls indicating that Tugume is gaining momentum.
