BUHWEJU,UGANDA – Team OYES_ has issued a clarification on remarks attributed to Buhweju Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Nnamara Annet Oyes Byamukama, regarding roads, love and unity, dismissing claims circulating on social media that the legislator described roads built with love and unity as _“nothing.”_
In a press statement issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, _Team OYES_ said the message being circulated by _Team Amazima Gonka_ was taken out of context.
*What Hon. Annet Actually Said*

According to _Team OYES_, Hon. Byamukama was not undermining the importance of roads in Buhweju. Her remarks were anchored in _1 Corinthians 13_, emphasizing that growth and development without love and unity become meaningless to the people they are intended to serve.
“Any form of growth, progress, or building without love and unity is empty and amounts to zero value to the people,” the statement quoted her as saying.
The team explained that the “nothing” referred to roads built through corruption, shoddy work and community division — projects that will not last one rainy season. A road built with integrity, quality and unity, they added, will serve generations.
*Roads Remain a Major Concern*
_Team OYES_ acknowledged that Buhweju continues to face serious road challenges affecting farmers, students, patients and traders.
“The issue is not whether Buhweju needs roads. We all agree that Buhweju needs good roads,” the statement said. “The central concern should be how the roads are planned, funded, constructed and monitored.”
*MP Seeks Follow-up on Pending Pledges*
The statement revealed that Hon. Byamukama has formally requested the Chief Administrative Officer to compile all outstanding Presidential pledges affecting the district, including tarmac roads, to enable MPs and district leadership to jointly follow up with Central Government.
“No MP can tarmac a road alone. It requires a united district speaking with one voice in Kampala,” _Team OYES_ stressed.
*Community Monitoring Proposed*
Through _BAWE – Buhweju Alliance for Women Empowerment_, the MP is mobilizing community monitoring teams to assess the quality of government projects and document cases of poor workmanship.
Residents have been urged to report specific road challenges — including location and nature of the problem — rather than relying on general accusations or social media exchanges.
*Call for Unity*
_Team OYES_ appealed to _Team Amazima Gonka_ and other groups to avoid personal attacks and instead work together to secure resources for Buhweju.
The message was linked to President _Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s “Kisanja No More Sleep”_ campaign and remarks by _Hon. Balaam Barugahara, Minister of Local Government_, during the Nsiika engagement, calling for accountability and a shift _“from complaints to construction.”_
“Insults will not pour murram. Division will not attract tarmac. _Love, unity and action_ will,” the statement concluded.
_Team OYES_ reaffirmed its commitment to Integrity, Quality and Patriotism for Buhweju.
_For God. For Our Children. For Buhweju._
