SHEEMA – Police in Sheema district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a one year old girl whose body was found floating in a water well in Kagongi Cell, Kihunda ward, Kagango division in Sheema Municipality.
The incident was reported to police by Easter Kansiime 28 years a resident of the same adress and it was recorded as suspected drowning vide Sheema CPS CRB:765/2024.
The deceased is Ankunda Mercy a daughter to Kansiime Easter (reporter) and atleast two people; Kagasira Frank 39 years and Beinomugisha Generous have so far been arrested to help in police investigations.
Its alleged that the deceased went missing yesterday in the afternoon until when her body was found in the nearby water well.
According to some residents who recorded statments, the two suspects arrested had a long term conflict with the mother of the deceased and did not participate in the search for her.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirms the incident stressing that the body was retrieved by officers and taken to Kabwohe Health Center 4 pending Postmortem as police inquiries continue.
