KANUNGU – The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 40 years old Edson Kanyakore a resident of Katete in Kanungu district, who is alleged to have been knocked by a speeding car Reg no UBJ100J Hillux double cabin that belongs to Kedifise bank Kanungu branch.
This was on the 15/09/2024 at around 07:30pm at
Kabashaki cell along Kanungu Kihihi road in Kirima sub county.
It’s alleged that on the 15/09/2024, the deceased left his home at Katete sub county to Mitoma district to pay a visit to a friend one Sabiti.
And that at around 6pm, he disappeared from Sabiti to an unknown destination and at around 07:30pm while drunk in the middle of the road, was knocked by that speeding vehicle and sustained injuries.
He was rushed to Katate health center iv where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Kigezi Police Mouth Piece Asp Elly Maate confirmwd the incident stressing that police were alerted on the 16/09/2024 by Mukwatangabo Habib Twaha an employee of Kidefise bank, the scene was visited and documented, Motorvehicle was impounded for further investigations, while the driver is on the run and being hunted.
Postmortem was conducted & body handed over to relatives for a decent burial.
