Ntungamo,Uganda – Residents of Nyamisha and Kiborogota villages have accused Aba Ndimu Clinical Consultants Limited of blasting rocks in the area without ensuring their safety. During a meeting convened by assistant RDCs, the residents presented a petition to the Mayor and Resident District Commissioner, seeking urgent intervention and compensation for damages.
The company’s site manager, Bosco Mutambuura, acknowledged mistakes in not involving residents before blasting and said the quarry belongs to the community. The meeting resolved that the company will rehabilitate the nearby Kateera road, inform and relocate residents before blasting, and compensate affected persons if blasts exceed 500 meters.
A 12-man Grievance management committee was formed, headed by the RDC. The Mayor and environment officer warned the company against deviating from the agreed resolutions, with the environment officer offering support to residents with complaints.
