MBARARA- Police of Mbarara City south division together with the Regional Flying Squad Unit on Wednesday 16/10/2024 rescued a stolen child of three months.
The child is Given Ainamani a son of Natukunda Miracle female adult aged 24 years old a bar attendant a resident of Katete central cell Katete ward Mbarara City South Division and apprehended the suspect Mujawimana Jackline female adult a born of Nyakabande Mutorere Kisoro District.
It’s alleged that on the 12/10/2024 at about 3pm the suspect timed when complainant had gone with a colleague to look for local herbs to treat the baby, leaving him behind in the room and then suspect picked the baby pretending to be looking for the mother and later disappeared to unknown location.
When the mother was informed about the incident they immediately started a search in all bars in Katete areas until they failed then reported the matter to Police.
Following the report made investigations into the matter commenced,the suspect was tracked and apprehended in Bushenyi District where she was found in possession of the child and she is currently being held at Ruti Police Station.
The three months baby was handed over to the mother by SP Namara Kellen the DPC Mbarara City south division.
The Rwizi Police Spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident stressing that the motive of stealing the child was to confuse the husband that she had given birth so that she can keep getting support from the man.
