RUBIRIZI – Four people have perished while two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident that happened on Saturday early morning at Nkombe 2 along the Kasese – Mbarara Highway in Rubirizi district.
Our reporter who rushed to the scene clarified that the incident occurred in Nkombe 2 leading to Rutoto trading center.
Following the incident, the Rubirizi Traffic Officer ASP Twebaze Richard led the team and rush to the scene of crime.
Twebaze reveals that the accident involved a vehicle registration No. UBQ 896N Toyota Pro-box belonging to Buganda Kombucha Enterprises which was selling drinks for Kombucha.
The primarily cause of the accident was reckless driving, with police confirming that the driver was over speeding and possibly under the influence of alcohol.
The accident according to the police report, claimed four people including Asiimwe Fortunate (22) of Kyanyoza, Kichwamba, Muhwezi Gedeon (28) of Nyakasharu Rubirizi Town Council, Tukesigaomwe Andrew (26) of Kibanga in Kitagata.
Others who survived with serious injuries are Tumubiire Andrew (26) of Kamwenge District who later died arriving at Combon Hospital, Muhumuza Emmanuel known as San and one identified as Everisto.
It is reported that the injured persons were rushed to COMBON then, Muhumuza Emmanuel referred to St. Paul’s Hospital- Kasese while Eversto is admitted at KIU Hospital.
Postmortem examination was made at Rugazi HC IV before handed to relatives for burial arrangements.
