NTUNGAMO,UGANDA – The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has unveiled its top leadership structure in Ntungamo District ahead of the planned District Baraza scheduled for October 17, 2026, at Rubaare Playgrounds.
The newly unveiled structure is headed by Jonan Muhumuza, who was introduced as the Ntungamo District Coordinator and carries national number 092. He will be deputized by former district speaker Nicholas Twikirize Mugyenyi.
Other members include Dan Nsimire as head of finance, Denis Muhumuza aka Savimbi in charge of publicity, John Bams Bamutonda as Ntungamo Municipality Coordinator, Osbert Tayebwa as head of media, and Fred Muhinda, Speaker of Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council, as Rushenyi County Coordinator.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Home to Home Kyahweire to unveil the leadership and mobilize support for the Baraza, Bamutonda said the changes were intended to strengthen the team with committed PLU cadres to advance its political ambition of attaining the country’s highest office in 2031 and beyond.
Meanwhile, Denis Muhumuza, Savimbi, said some former leaders had been dropped over alleged affiliation with other political parties during recent elections, adding that PLU leadership positions are filled through appointments from the national leadership rather than consensus among members.
Commissioner in Internal Affairs PLU, Stephen Rutasharara, described the organisation as not being a political party but an NRM wing or subsidiary intended to address corruption and improve service delivery.
In his remarks, newly unveiled District Coordinator Jonan Muhumuza said the organisation had already covered three districts – Kyegegwa, Tororo, Wakiso and now Ntungamo – as part of its mobilisation efforts.
Muhumuza called on people opposed to the initiative to join the organisation, saying their participation would contribute to the development of Ntungamo, and warned individuals he accused of attempting to sabotage the forthcoming Baraza through social media.
Nicholas Twikirize Mugyenyi called on PLU leaders to remain united and cooperate, noting that the organisation has numerous leadership positions that members can occupy as they work towards common goals.
