BUSHENYI – Catholics of St Kalemba Catholic Church are angry at their catechist Madam Teopista Tukore for acting unproffessional while exercising her duties.
St Kalemba Catholic Church (Center) is found in Bushenyi district St Kagwa parish, Mbarara Archidiocese.
We can reflect to history, Teopista Tukore was enthroned as an acting catechist of St Kalemba Catholic Church in 2015 after the transfer of Kandyomuntu Xavier.

However, Teopista Tukore a resident of Kibingo in Kizinda Towncouncil is accused by catholics for unproffessionalism while exercising her duties. We talked to old christians who openly told us that Tukore is not trained and has sereved at their church for close to ten years doing things the way she wants, appointing her relatives as church leaders including the secretary Tumusiime Gregory who is from her family.
“We have been quite for longtime seeing this woman who was just put to help us since our church had been closed for lacking a catechist but we are now tired, let her go and they give us a trained one”, one of the church leaders told this website.
One of the catholics blamed Tukore a wife to late Mrefu for poor education qualifications clarrifying that they cannot accept to follow the conditions of someone who just finished P.4 Class and is now even above 60 years thus asking the parish to transfer or retire her.
The salt was added in the wound recently when th accused catechist led a ghost burial ceremony in Nyakinengo Kizinda Towncouncil.
“Now, our own Catholic Alex lost his father Kakyakaare and the man was burried in Ryansana II, Kashenyi ward Ishaka Division but we were seriously shocked to see our catechist leading a burial service in Nyakinengo where they just burried a poster, we were embarrased”, Another Catholic who identified himself as Vian told us.
He reveals that at this point, catholics became violent against their catechist which forced the chairman of the church Mr Arinaitwe Aron Kanyangoga to close the church and it was only opened by the Parish Priest Father Mutambi for usual church Services to continue and haulted the services of the chairman.
But in Mid April, the executive met the parish council and allowed the chairman Arinaitwe Aron Kanyangoga to re – start his duties as they also look for new church executive leaders and look for the real solution so that the situation can again stablise to normal.
We shall keep you updated about any new developments……..
