Ntungamo, Uganda – Philip Ankwasa, an aspirant Member of Parliament for Ntungamo Municipality, has announced that he and his team will boycott the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s planned election exercise due to allegations of bias in the party’s parliamentary primaries. The primaries, held on July 17th, were marred by controversy, with 13 cells allegedly excluded from the process.
Ankwasa expressed discontent over the unfair selection process, stating that it favored only 7 cells while excluding others, including Cell 08, Cell 03, Kikoni, Nyabubare, and others. “We cannot condone the biased selection process,” Ankwasa said, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
The boycott highlights tensions within the party ahead of the January general elections. Ankwasa plans to present his case to the people during the elections, positioning himself for the MP seat for Ntungamo Municipality for the term 2026-2031.
