Ntungamo, Uganda – Outgoing Ntungamo District Woman MP, Hon. Josyline Bata Kamateneti, has urged all parliamentarians to prioritize the handover of reports to their successors to ensure seamless service delivery.
Kamateneti emphasized the importance of accepting election results and preparing comprehensive handover reports, enabling incoming MPs to quickly continue unfinished projects.
She advocated for transparent and accountable service delivery focused on long-term benefits for constituents, rather than short-term gains. Kamateneti highlighted the detrimental effect of contesting election results on democracy and service delivery.

Despite her defeat in the recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, Kamateneti affirmed her commitment to supporting the newly elected MP, Viola Namanya Buruko, a 25-year-old lawyer. Namanya secured 59,375 votes (37.54%), defeating Kamateneti (47,235 votes, 29.87%) and six other candidates.
Other vote counts included Kamayangi Gloria (36,844 votes, 23.30%), Turyabitunga Slivia (8,796 votes, 5.56%), Mugarura Shamir (2,977 votes, 1.88%), Amanya Pantince Bikashaga (1,700 votes, 1.07%), and Nyamate Muhingira Agathar (1,359 votes, 0.86%).
Kamateneti pledged to continue her ongoing projects until the end of her term and expressed gratitude to the people of Ntungamo for their support. She underscored that losing an election does not preclude continued public service and expressed her willingness to collaborate with Namanya to further the development of the district.
End.
