BUSHENYI – Police in Bushenyi district have started investigating circumstances under which a 40 year Old man was allegedly lynched by yet to be identified people.
The deceased is Mutagwenda 40 years who has been known by locals as a common thief stealing peoples’ property and cattle resident of Kabande B LC1, Nkanga Sub County in Bushenyi district.
Its alleged that the deceased was on 08th November 2024 in the evening attacked by a group of residents armed with sticks and pangas and they lynched him on accusations of stealing their property.
He has left helpless in the farm of Bagumenda where he his body was later discovered and the matter was reported to Akajani Police post for action by Bagarukayo John Patrick 84 years Chairperson LC1 Kabande B village.
A case of murder by mob was registered vide CRB/2024, scene visited and examined then the body of the deceased conveyed to Kitagata Hospital Mortuary for postmortem. Police sniffer dog was introduced at the scene, picked scent but did not lead to arrest of any suspect(s).
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident stressing that inquiries are still at hand.
