MITOOMA – The Mitooma district roads Committee on Monday 14th October 2024 aborted its meeting after the district engineer Johnbaptist Tumwebaze brought the report late yet it needed scrutiny.
The meeting that had just lasted for 10 minutues had started at around 10am could not progress since there were many issues to be handled hence needed more time but the report about the use of shs 1 Billion was submitted late to the committee.
The meeting was being chaired by the Mitooma district Woman Member of Parliament Hon Agasha Juliet Bashisha who represented the Committee chairperson Retired Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda (Ruhinda South MP).

Speaking to our reporter after the aborted meeting, Hon Juliet Agasha Bashisha noted that with public outcry of improper use of shs 1 Billion, the report would have been shared earlier with all the members to scrutinise it but was unfortunate that the district engineer brought the report of over 100 pages when the meeting had already started. She adds that the first pages had issues of big allowances awarded to individuals hence bringing suspicion to the report.
Mitooma district Chairperson Benon Karyeija Boneza faulted the engineer for failing to produce the report in time yet it was crucial for the meeting’s progress. However, he noted that road works are ongoin in the roads sector.

End.
