Mitooma,Uganda – Mitooma District Council has passed a resolution to create a new district to be known as Bitereko.
Councilors voted in favor of curving the new district from the existing Mitooma District, citing the need to improve service delivery and bring administration closer to the people.
Mitooma, located in Western Uganda, borders Bushenyi, Rubirizi, and Ntungamo districts. The proposal to split the district has been driven by concerns over long distances to access district services, population growth, and the need for more focused development planning.

The resolution will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government for consideration and to Parliament for final approval. If approved, Bitereko would become one of Uganda’s newest administrative units, joining recent districts created to enhance decentralization.
District leaders say the new district would ease pressure on Mitooma’s resources and improve health, education, and agricultural extension services in the area.
End.

Yes it should be created because Mitooma is a very big district compared to other districts and this will help in prior planning for the economy thank you
Yes
I find that in Mitooma the spirit of co existence is lacking and at one time people will rise up in arms and fight each other. But let it come with its valuables but we play to God not fight against each other. It is a disease that every after Elections people are invited to behave irrationally and the ultimate result is to think of separation.
When we were still studying, one reason to curb down unemployment was ” Restructuring and decentralizing of the administrative system.
We therefore hope for the best
The proposal I second; it’s what we have been waiting for. For I am a resident of Bitereko myself but it is very difficult for a person from Rwoburunga, Kiyanga or Kigyende to access services at the district due to long distance. I like it 👍
