KISORO, UGANDA – The territorial police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ivan Niyonsaba, a 21-year-old casual laborer and resident of Zindiro cell, Kamonyi ward, Northern division, Kisoro municipality.
Circumstances of Death:
According to reports, Ivan’s body was found in a trench at Kisoro Old Market in Kamonyi cell on the morning of September 25, 2025. It is alleged that he left home for his usual work as a porter on the night of September 24, 2025, but failed to return. His lifeless body was discovered in the trench the following morning.
Investigation Underway:
The scene of the crime has been examined and documented by the police, and Ivan’s body has been conveyed to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. The police are currently conducting inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding his death and identify the perpetrator(s) responsible.
Police Statement:
ASP Maate Elly, Kigezi Police Spokesperson, has confirmed that the police are investigating the matter. “Inquiries are at hand,” he said, assuring the public that the police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding Ivan’s death.
