Rubirizi,Uganda – In Rubirizi’s Kicwamba Sub County, women are defying poverty with every stitch and weave. Despite walking 10 kilometers for raw materials, they’re crafting baskets, mats, and earrings to break free from financial dependence.
“We won’t wait for handouts,” they declare, working tirelessly to feed their families. But challenges persist: costly materials, scarce markets, and lacking support. Their plea: government backing to boost their association, secure affordable supplies, and unlock better markets.
These women are rewriting their story, one handmade product at a time. Their resilience inspires, showing that with a little push, rural communities can thrive.
