Kabale, Uganda –Kabale District police are actively pursuing Tumuhereze Maritazari, a male adult, for the alleged murder of his five-year-old son, Turyasingura Remegio.
The horrific incident occurred on April 26, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM in Kasiru village, Nyombe parish, Kahungye sub-county, Kabale District.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect’s alleged crime stemmed from a domestic dispute. At around 2:00 PM on the same day, Maritazari reportedly confronted his wife, Tumwebaze Agnes, at Kasiru trading centre.
Fueled by suspicions of infidelity – believing Agnes had fathered the child with another man during his seven-year absence – Maritazari assaulted her at Rogers’ bar and subsequently at her mother’s home. He then returned to their residence, retrieved a panga (machete), and brutally murdered his son, chopping the child’s body into pieces before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the report, Kahungye police station opened a murder case.The Kabale homicide team, led by Acting D/CID/o Kabale, D/IP Barijunaki Samuel, processed the crime scene, documented evidence, and examined the deceased’s remains. Statements have been collected from witnesses.
The suspect remains at large, but police investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend Maritazari.
