NTUNGAMO,UGANDA – Hundreds of Catholic faithful from 10 parishes in Ntungamo Deanery have gathered at Sacred Heart Ntungamo Town Catholic Parish for a fundraising function organised under the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Fund (AMDEF).
The highly attended Holy Mass also marks a pastoral visit to the Ntungamo region by the Archbishop of Mbarara, His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha.
The celebration is being hosted by Rev. Fr. John Baptist Tumusiime, with faithful from across the deanery joining in support of the Archdiocese’s development initiatives.

The event follows the launch of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Foundation (AMDEF) in Ntungamo District on April 5, 2025, at the same parish. The launch was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, and raised more than UGX 344 million.
AMDEF aims to promote financial sustainability and self-reliance across the Archdiocese of Mbarara by mobilising resources for major development projects.
Among the initiatives supported by the fund is the construction of an archdiocesan building in Mbarara City, estimated to cost UGX 8.53 billion. Other priorities include expanding educational institutions, upgrading healthcare facilities and distributing coffee seedlings to local catechists to support household incomes and economic empowerment.
Today’s gathering in Ntungamo provides another opportunity for Catholic faithful to contribute to the Archdiocese’s development agenda while strengthening their faith and unity through the Archbishop’s pastoral visit.
