Kampala,Uganda – Bushenyi District Woman MP Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha was sworn in on Thursday for her second term in the 12th Parliament, marking five more years at the helm of the district’s women’s seat.
Flanked by her husband, Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha, Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, she took the oath at Parliament House in Kampala alongside over 500 MPs-elect.
Hon. Annet is one of the few women legislators in Ankole and Western Uganda to retain her seat after the 15th January 2026 elections. Her re-election, she said, reflects the trust built through years of grassroots work.

Over the past term, her Akabox savings scheme has spread to every village in Bushenyi, helping families pool small savings to pay school fees, clear hospital bills, repay loans, and upgrade homes. Targeted projects for youth and women, including poultry and goat enterprises, have reduced idleness and eased household financial pressure.
Her support has reached schools across the district, with investments in infrastructure aimed at lifting education standards. In health, she has lobbied for hospital expansion, drug supplies, and staffing. On water, her advocacy through NWSC has improved access and created jobs for local youth.
In Parliament, Hon. Annet has raised issues affecting tea farmers and pushed for rural electrification. Her work on the Education Committee has also shaped sector reforms.
“As she begins her second term, Hon. Annet is calling for unity over division,” her office said. “Bushenyi needs progress, not exclusion. The work ahead is to consolidate gains and ensure no one is left behind.”
