BUSHENYI, UGANDA – Former Igara East parliamentary candidate Amanya Andrew “Ekyeyerezo” has confirmed his defection from the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Amanya Andrew Ekyeyerezo, who was previously associated with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and later the PFF, joins the NRM as he contests for the LC5 councilor seat for Kyabugimbi Town Council on an independent ticket.
He was welcomed to the NRM by Bushenyi District Woman MP Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha during her 2026 election campaign in Kyamutiganzi B, Katikamwwe Ward, Kyabugimbi Town Council, Igara East Constituency this week.

Amanya attributed his decision to the efforts and influence of Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha, particularly noting her exemplary leadership and the services she has brought to Kyabugimbi, including the extension of clean water by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation and improvements in healthcare services.

“Let me confirm to all Ugandans that I have left the PFF and joined the NRM. I openly support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni because of his commitment to sustainable development, as well as other effective leaders like our own Woman MP Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha,” Amanya said.
