Bushenyi, Uganda – Councilor Juliet Kyobutungi, representing Ibaare and Bumbaire Sub Counties, has urged Ugandans to reject religious division as a basis for voting in upcoming elections.
Speaking to voters during the recent NRM party elections in Kainamo, Ibaare Sub County, Igara East Constituency, Bushenyi District, Kyobutungi emphasized the need for unity.
Kyobutungi, who intends to seek re-election, expressed concern over attempts to manipulate voters based on religious affiliation. “We are all the same – Catholic, Protestant, Muslim – we are all voters who need equal services,” she stated. “Let’s be united and vote wisely; discrimination is unacceptable.”

Kyobutungi also shared her gratitude for surviving a serious accident in 2022 that sidelined her for two years. “Only God saved me,” she said, attributing her recovery to divine intervention. She pledged to continue serving her constituents without discrimination.
Echoing Kyobutungi’s sentiments, Mr. Benon Mayombo Rukundo, a candidate for the Igara East Constituency seat, advised voters to prioritize development projects over divisive politics. He further cautioned against the sale of votes, highlighting its detrimental impact on service delivery.
