Buhweju, Uganda – Hundreds of enthusiastic Buhweju residents greeted Annet Oyes Nnamara Byamukama upon her return to the district today, Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Annet Byamukama, nominated earlier this week as the NRM candidate for Buhweju District Woman MP, was met by a vibrant procession that included taxi and boda boda drivers, and a range of community members.
The welcoming convoy, which began in Kyankanda and Bwoga in Rwengwe Sub-County, traveled through Rwina, Nsiika Trading Center, Kikondera, and Kashenyi-Kajani Town Council. The journey culminated at Byamukama’s home in Kashenyi-Kajani, where a celebratory gathering ensued.

During the welcoming event, Byamukama distributed free reflectors to boda boda riders at various stops along the route. She extended heartfelt gratitude to the residents of Buhweju for their unwavering support and pledged to continue her work within the framework of the “Buhweju Community Transformation Initiative” (BCTI).
Byamukama outlined BCTI’s key pillars:
Wealth Creation: BCTI aims to promote wealth creation initiatives, aligning with President Museveni’s vision.
Community Development: The organization fosters community development through networking, education, and income-generating projects.
Networking and Collaboration: BCTI actively partners with various stakeholders, including the Center for Integrated Community Development (CICD-U).

Specific Projects: BCTI is strategically focused on revitalizing the tea industry and providing mentorship and career guidance in local schools.
A significant promise made by Byamukama was the construction of shelters at boda boda stages, providing a safe space for riders to rest during adverse weather conditions.
Byamukama’s return marks the beginning of her campaign for support in the upcoming NRM Party Primaries for Members of Parliament, scheduled for July 16, 2025.
