IGARA WEST – The Woman Aspirant for Member of Parliament for Igara West on 18th May 2024 comfirmed the rumours that have been going around about her intentions to contest in a press Conference held in Ishaka at villa Gaboun, she personally said “ It is true” I will be contesting.
Speaking to different media houses, she stressed the need to empower youths in long lasting income generating ventures condemning the commercialisation of politics in various communities.
Challenging the youths from the different subcounties of Igara West, she asserted” I once saw a candidate that lined up Voters for a 10kUgsh( roughly 3 dollars) for votes and voters were happy to vote for the candidate that never returned to the constituency 5 years later. Today I give you that amount of money , let me know how many of you will get home still possessing”
She further said that the indiscipline by politicians is largely shaped by the voters who never ask for the right things but simple gifts.
Katushemererwe when asked if she believes in the current patriotism drive being taken to communities, she retailated that the Education Curriculum needs to be revised or else over hauled so that children learn more of the African history in a decolonisation sense.
She further unveiled her plans to empower youths groups in farming initiatives, skills development and talent promotion and further educated the youth about the technology that needs to be embraced stressing that if they want to compete with the rest of the world, they must embrace technology which taking over most life spheres.
She was flanked by her campaigning team members who revealed to the press that As youths they specifically asked Katushemererwe Brenda to run and were happy she answered to their call. Turyamureeba Joram, one of her team told our reporters that as youths they got tired of leaders who do not deliver and said they chose Brenda basing on her previous community engagement with communities around Uganda and her unshaken resolute to transform Africa.
She is so far the only Lady and youths that as it looks will be tussling it out with males for the parliamentary seat of Igara West.
The media present were particularly interested in knowing why she is running for Igara West seat being that she had run for President in 2021.About this she said, choosing to focus on her constituency is an act of patriotism and would foster the decentrisation models asserting that she will transform Igara West into a model constituency for the rest of Uganda and Africa at large.
