RUBIRIZI – Bunyaruguru Development Sacco has donated Sanitary pads to over 1,000 girl learners in various schools across Rubirizi district as one way of promoting personal hygiene in community.
The sanitary pads were delivered to schools such as St Kizito Magambo Seed School, Katunguru Seed School and Ryeru Seed School on Tuesday 8th October 2024.
According to Madam Gumisiriza Manuelina General Manager Bunyaruguru Development Sacco, the major aim of donating sanitary pads is to support girl child education thus tasking the community to co-operate with the Sacco in implementing developmental initiatives in the community.
Nurse Kyarimpa Jennifer, Health Educator Rubirizi district appreciated the Sacco for the contribution on improving girl child hygiene saying pads help girls to remain safe and confident during their menstruation periods and protect them against various infections.
Our reporter also talked to Nakyanzi Mercy Headgirl St Kizito Magambo Seed School who thanked the Sacco for supporting them stressing that most girls cannot afford buying sanitary pads which in the end always leads to increased school dropouts due to unending adolescent challenges.
Meanwhile, Madam Nsiimenta Hope Vice Chaiperson Board Bunyaruguru Development Sacco says they started with girls since they are the most affected but have more plans to also help the boy students across the whole district.
