Bushenyi,Uganda — Archbishop Lambert Beinomugisha has described Dr. Silver Mugisha as a “parent” of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Fund (AMDEF).
The Archbishop made the revelation on Sunday, July 12, 2026, during Mass at Kitabi Catholic Parish in St. Kagwa Deanery, Bushenyi District.
He was preaching ahead of an AMDEF fundraising drive where at least UGX 400 million was collected.

The Archbishop commended Engineer Silver Mugisha, Coordinator of AMDEF and Head of Laity for Mbarara Archdiocese, for being a core pillar in the start-up and growth of the fund.
“When he introduced the idea of AMDEF, I thought it was impossible. But Silver became a parent, and we have been progressing since last year,” Archbishop Beinomugisha said.
Speaking at the function, Engineer Silver Mugisha, who also serves as Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, thanked Christians for supporting the initiative. He said the Church needs self-reliance and projects that can eradicate poverty at the family and household level.
He was flanked by his wife, Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha, Woman MP for Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
Following the Bushenyi launch, the AMDEF project team, led by the Archbishop, will move through all churches in Mbarara Archdiocese to mobilize funds for Church projects.
The Church has already started construction of a building expected to cost at least UGX 13 billion. The facility will house Centenary Bank and other businesses.
