BUSHENYI – Two people have died on spot in a hit and run accident at Nyampungi Trading Centre along Ishaka – Kasese Road.
The accident happened at around 6:50am on 1st September 2024 and involved a motorcycle and a yet to be identified motorvehicle(trailer).
The deceased are Mugema Geoffrey (Rider) aged 58 a resident of Ryampanga village, Kabingo Parish, Kyamuhunga in Bushenyi district and Tumusiime Tophias (Passenger) also from the same adress.
Its alleged that the deceased were travelling feom Kasese side heading towards Ishaka direction, On reaching Nyampungi they were knocked dead by a trailer that was coming from the Opposite direction.
Police visited the scene, the bodies were taken to Comboni hospital mortuary for postmortem and motorcycle was taken to Ishaka Police Station pending IOV inspection.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident mentioning the suspected cause of the accident as careless driving.
