KAMPALA, UGANDA — The Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru Constituency in Rubirizi District, Hon. Cadet Benjamin, has questioned government over what he considers inadequate intervention to support communities affected by repeated natural disasters, including destructive hailstorms.
The legislator is seeking answers from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on why the people of Rubirizi District continue to face the effects of recurring disasters without sufficient government assistance.
According to Hon. Cadet Benjamin, hailstorms and other natural disasters have devastated crops, destroyed livelihoods and left families struggling to recover, yet government response has remained limited.

He said the concerns highlight the need for effective disaster response and timely support for affected communities.
Among the questions directed to the Office of the Prime Minister include whether government has assessed the damage caused by the disasters, what relief measures have been provided so far, and whether there are plans to support affected farmers and families in Rubirizi.
The central question, according to the MP, is why the people of Rubirizi District have not received sufficient government intervention despite repeated disasters, including hailstorms.
The response from the Office of the Prime Minister is expected to clarify government’s position and outline possible measures to address the challenges facing affected communities.
