KATERERA, RUBIRIZI — The Katerera County Education Forum Bursary (KACEF) Scheme has grown to 64 beneficiary students.
This follows today’s update of the data base with new students who joined technical and vocational institutes in the region.
The newly admitted students joined:

1. Kyamuhunga Technical Institute
2. Eria Kategaya Skills Development Centre – on Junior Certificates
3. Rugando Vocational Institute
4. Bunyaruguru Vocational College
According to KACEF leadership, most of the new entrants have joined technical education under the forum’s *”Skills for Life”* program, which is aimed at equipping youth with hands-on, employable skills.
The forum further revealed that 30% of the total beneficiaries have now joined *Ankole Western University* where they are studying on a 50% bursary support from KACEF.
KACEF noted that it continues to help more students who want to study skills for life, especially those from vulnerable families in Katerera County who cannot afford full tuition for technical and university education.
BACKGROUND:
Katerera County Education Forum started in 2022 as the *Katerera County Radio Listeners Club*, a community-based forum that was discussing education issues on radio. It has since grown into a formal education support forum providing bursaries and career guidance to students in Rubirizi District.
The leadership says the goal is to fight school dropout and youth unemployment by promoting technical and vocational education.
