RUBIRIZI,UGANDA — Rubirizi Police together with Communication for Development Foundation Uganda and local leaders have warned residents of Magambo Sub-county to obey the law and fight crimes and bad behaviours.
The warning was issued today during a community security policing meeting held at Kanyara Trading Centre in Butoha Parish, Magambo Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Afande Twesigye Caleb, Community Liaison Officer Rubirizi Police, and Afande Arinitwe Johns, OC Station Magambo, said the sensitisation meeting aimed to create awareness in all villages on new government directives on alcohol, prevention of domestic violence, and how to avoid crimes, theft and land wrangles.

Mr. Barry Wickliff, Project Coordinator for Communication for Development Foundation Uganda, urged elected local leaders and residents to promote good conduct, harmony, mediation and productivity. He appealed to them to engage in productive activities that develop their homes and to avoid conflicts that can lead to crime. He said the training targets LC1s and LC2s to know their role in handling cases, especially small claims procedures, and urged residents to use their leaders to solve problems.

He noted that some residents are involved in theft, violence and assault. He expressed concern about rising cases of domestic violence which have caused pain and division, and encouraged residents to work with Police and local leaders to report offenders.
