Rubirizi, Uganda – Police in Rubirizi District are investigating circumstances surrounding the suspected murder by stabbing of Tumwebaze Joachim, 50, a resident of Mubanda D Village, Ryeru Sub-county.
The incident occurred on 28th May 2026 at around 9:00pm. Preliminary reports indicate Tumwebaze was involved in a serious disagreement with the suspect over meat sharing. The suspect allegedly stabbed him and fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to Rubirizi Medical Centre for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“Our officers managed the scene following standard procedure and conveyed the deceased’s body to Rugazi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death,” police said.
Investigations are ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to report to the nearest police station to aid quick apprehension.
“We condemn acts of lawlessness and assure the public that the perpetrator will be brought to justice. We will keep the general public updated as investigations progress,” said SP. Tayebwa Apollo, Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson.
Police have extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
