Kampala,Uganda – Hon. Arinaitwe Jeniva Nalongo will be officially sworn into the 12th Parliament of Uganda on Wednesday, 13th May 2026. But for Rubirizi District, her work began long before she took the oath.
She enters the August House with a record of completed projects — a track record she calls “Action Beyond Words” (Nitukora bikye konka nibireebeka).
*Lighting up Rubirizi*
Rural electrification has been central to her agenda. She led the rollout of electric poles and power connections to homes and facilities in Kanyashande, Katanda Sub-county, and Kataara, Kichwamba Sub-county.
The program now reaches Kanyinya, Kanyashande, Kakaari, Igomanda, Nyamirima, Kagando, Omumasaka, Butoha, Magambo, Rumuri, Nyakagyezi, and Kaguga. With Kataara and Kanyashande already lit, she has made completing the remaining connections her first priority in Parliament.
*Opening up communities*
She backed extensive grading and upgrading of feeder roads, easing travel for farmers and traders in Kakaari, Ngoro, Nyamabare, Kataara, and Kanyashande, and across Katanda and Katerera sub-counties.
*Investing in people*
– *Skills for income:* Hundreds of women and youth have been trained to produce high-quality liquid soap, turning homes into small enterprises.
– *Education:* Her bursary scheme continues to sponsor students, removing cost as a barrier to talent.
– *Sports and unity:* She fully sponsored the Rubirizi District Team to a historic win at the 2024 Ankole District Tournament.
– *Faith and community:* She and her family pledged UGX 100 million toward building Rugazi Catholic Parish.
*On taking office*
“This swearing-in is a collective victory for every household in Rubirizi,” Hon. Jeniva said. “We are not starting today. We are scaling up the work we have already done together.”
