Rukiga,Uganda – Territorial police in Rukiga District are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the lives of two motorcyclists on 16th April 2026 at around 8:15 p.m. at Nyakanengo cell along the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway.
The deceased have been identified as Alex Mugisha, 68, a market vendor and resident of Katoma Cell, Rwahi Parish, Ntungamo Town Council, Ntungamo District. The identity of the second rider is yet to be established.
Preliminary reports indicate that both motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions. The rider of motorcycle registration number UFH 513S, who was carrying a passenger and heading toward Kabale, reportedly lost control, left his lane, and collided head-on with motorcycle registration number UEW 824U, ridden by Alex Mugisha. Mugisha died instantly.
The scene was visited by the Rukiga Traffic Officer and team. Both the victim and the deceased were taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where the second rider was also pronounced dead.
Both motorcycles have been parked at Muhanga Police Station pending Inspection of Vehicle (IOV) inspection.
Investigations are ongoing.
