RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – The Rubirizi District Police Force has launched a crackdown on reckless bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) operations in the area. The campaign targets illegal stage practices, drug abuse, over-speeding, and other risky behaviors that have contributed to a surge in road accidents.
According to Mr. Twebaze Richard, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Rubirizi, the rising accident figures in Rubirizi have increased to 58 cases this year, which is unacceptable. He warned bodaboda riders to obey traffic laws, stop using drugs or alcohol while riding, and avoid dangerous maneuvers.
Afande Twesigye Caleb, Rubirizi Police Liaison Officer, reinforced the message, urging bodaboda operators to protect their riders, adopt a saving culture, and cooperate with authorities to improve community safety.

The police will enforce strict penalties for violations, especially for riders under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and for those causing public disturbances. The campaign has already raised awareness, and riders are encouraged to follow road rules and report wrongdoers.
