Uganda has taken a significant step towards enhancing its economic relationship with the United Arab Emirates by inaugurating the Uganda Business Center in Dubai, located at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel. The center aims to facilitate trade, investment, and innovation between the two nations, with a focus on promoting Ugandan business opportunities and strengthening investment links.
The launch of the Uganda Business Center was officiated by Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, who emphasized the country’s commitment to safeguarding investments and creating a stable environment for businesses to thrive. This move is expected to further boost the growing trade between Uganda and the UAE, which has seen a significant surge in recent years, with trade volumes increasing from $600 million in 2018 to $2.85 billion in 2024.
*Key Objectives of the Uganda Business Center:*

– *Market Research*: Provide Ugandan businesses with vital market intelligence to tap into the UAE’s growing demand for African products.
– *Product Certification*: Offer guidance on product certification to meet UAE’s standards.
– *Business Networking*: Facilitate connections between Ugandan and UAE businesses.
– *Investment Promotion*: Attract UAE investors to Uganda’s key sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, tourism, logistics, ICT, and social services.
The Uganda Business Center aligns with the government’s Tenfold Growth Strategy, which seeks to transform Uganda into a $500 billion economy by 2040 through industrialization and export diversification. With over 160,000 Ugandans residing in the UAE and six daily flights between Entebbe and Dubai, the center is well-positioned to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
