Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, after her nomination at Mitooma District Headquarters, Hon. Agasha explained that her decision followed the contentious NRM primary elections, where she lost the party flag to Kyarampe Rebecca Namanya.

Hon. Agasha emphasized that standing as an independent doesn’t exclude her from supporting the current government, citing Article 72 of Uganda’s Constitution. “There’s no Parliament in Uganda without independents,” she said. “People can stand on individual merit, and it’s about what you deliver to the voters.”
She expressed her commitment to serving the people tirelessly, having been actively involved in the district and following up on development projects. Hon. Agasha also expressed confidence in the Electoral Commission’s ability to conduct fair and free general elections, contrasting it with the irregularities she experienced during the NRM primaries.
