RUBIRIZI, UGANDA- Residents of Ryeru 1 village are in shock after one of their own, Rubasimbira Didas, 60, was accused of bewitching his neighbor, Saturday Vincent, 22, leading to his death. The suspicion arose after Vincent’s sudden death following severe headaches, with doctors finding no clear illness.
According to the local leadership, the suspicion against Rubasimbira intensified due to his past, having been banished from Nyabubare, Bushenyi District, for similar reasons. Rubasimbira was arrested but later released on bond.
The situation grew tense, prompting intervention from local leaders and security personnel. Afande Twesigye Caleb, the community liaison officer, urged residents to remain calm and allow law enforcement to investigate, warning against mob justice.
