RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – Rubirizi District has joined the global community in celebrating World Poverty Day by emphasizing community engagement and training on Parish Development Model (PDM) initiatives. The PDM, launched by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2022, targets socio-economic transformation at the parish level through interventions in production, storage, marketing, and value addition.
According to Madam Kiconco Helen, the Community Development Officer (CDO) of Kicwamba Subcounty, local leaders and technical teams are committed to sensitizing PDM beneficiaries on the proper use of funds. This aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and responsible financial management among group members.
Mr. Tinka Edward, the LCII Chairperson of Nyakashozi Parish, encouraged residents to shift from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture, increasing production and embracing market-oriented projects for sustainable growth.

The PDM has enabled families to invest in income-generating activities, strengthening local economies and reducing poverty levels. Beneficiaries like Madam Naiga Oliva have expressed gratitude for the initiative, which has improved their livelihoods .

Beneficaries.
