SHEEMA, UGANDA – A devastating incident of suspected arson and murder has rocked Sheema District, leaving a 24-year-old woman, Tushemereirwe Julian, and her 2-year-old son, Owembabazi Active, dead. The incident occurred on September 23, 2025, at around 7:30 am in Rweyeshera cell, Kyabandara ward, Sheema division.
Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly:
According to reports, the incident was sparked by unresolved domestic misunderstandings between Tushemereirwe and her husband, Nuwaha Godwin, 32. In a fit of rage, Nuwaha allegedly set their house on fire, killing his wife and child, and destroying other valuables.

Police Appeal:
The police are appealing to the public, especially married and engaged partners, to seek peaceful and lawful ways to resolve their disputes rather than taking the law into their own hands. “We urge everyone to prioritize dialogue and counseling in resolving conflicts,” said SP Tayebwa Apollo, Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson.
