Buhweju, Uganda -Through the Buhweju Community Transformation Initiative Limited (BCTI), Nnamara Annet Byamukama distributed high-quality maize seeds to residents of Kasharara, Karungu, Buhweju, on Thursday, September 4, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance food security and incomes in the community, particularly after recent torrential rains devastated homes, plantations, and livestock.
Tumusiime Leonard, BCTI Coordinator, urged beneficiaries to plant the seeds to improve food security and income levels. Nnamara Annet, NRM flag bearer for Woman MP, Buhweju District, encouraged affected families to champion maize growing to increase household incomes, reduce poverty, and improve food security.
Beneficiaries praised Nnamara Annet for her generosity, anticipating greater income opportunities after harvesting. This initiative will significantly benefit Buhweju’s economy by increasing crop yields and reducing post-harvest losses, tackling food insecurity in rural communities.
