Bushenyi, Uganda – Igara West MP Candidate Paul Kahiigi launched a free medical camp at Nyabubaare HCIII on June 27th, 2025, vowing to transform Igara West into a model constituency.
The camp, which provided services to over 300 patients by midday, was supported by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), led by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, at Kahiigi’s request.
Kahiigi, who recently unveiled his manifesto, stated his commitment to restoring Igara West’s former glory, addressing the unmet needs of its constituents.
He expressed gratitude to PLU Secretary General Mr. Kabanda and Director of Mobilization Hon. Michael Mawanda Maranga for their support. He emphasized his commitment to prioritizing healthcare and ensuring quality service delivery in the constituency.
PLU doctors, coordinated by Dr. Gilbert Tuhamire, offered free testing and treatment for various conditions including hepatitis, diabetes, typhoid, malaria, dental issues, and stroke. Dr. Tuhamire noted the prevalence of ulcers, hypertension, typhoid, and stroke among the patients.
Robert Rwakataka, a PLU member, thanked the residents for their participation and praised Kahiigi for organizing the camp. He mentioned previous PLU medical camps in Igara East and expressed plans to expand services to other areas.
Beneficiaries like Hannington (Kiyagara 1) and Danson Tugume (Kiyagara 3) expressed gratitude for the free treatment, highlighting the financial burden of healthcare for many residents. Tugume added that he would support General Muhoozi Kainerugaba in any future political endeavors.
