SHEEMA – Sheema district health department will on Tuesday 2nd April 2024 roll out mass vaccination against yellow fever where atleast 200,000 people will be vaccinated.
Yellow fever is a viral infection that is spread to humans by the bites of infected Aedes Mosquitoes. The disease causes yellowing of eyes and bleeding from the body openings like the nose, mouth,eyes among others.
Kebaraza Edridah,the sheema district health officer says that drugs have already been received and distributed to to lower health facilities a head of the vaccination set for Tuesday.
She says that the health department has resolved to use the first 4 days to vaccinate school going children in the district and that the schools have been notified about the exercise which is mandatory for all.
Kebaraza reveals that people above the age of 60 or less than a year, expectant and breastfeeding mothers, Sickly people, will not be allowed to be vaccinated.
Mean while ,Ssempa Muzafaru, the sheema district inspector of schools warned parents against blocking their children from being vaccinated stressing that this will be legally punishable.
