Rubirizi, Uganda – Hon. Kesande Grace Bataringaya, the Woman Member of Parliament for Rubirizi District, is championing a new initiative to boost economic empowerment and family stability in the region.
Addressing the “Nyanzibiri Bakyara Twemanye” saving group in Katara Village on Monday, she urged residents to embrace a savings culture, highlighting the Visla small box system as a vital tool for achieving financial security.
The MP emphasized the importance of collaborative family efforts, encouraging women to work alongside their husbands in raising children and managing household responsibilities. This, she stressed, is crucial in combating poverty, hunger, and domestic violence. Hon. Bataringaya praised those women and men who prioritize hard work over harmful habits like excessive alcohol consumption and smoking, urging others to follow their example and foster unity within their communities.

She also cautioned members of local Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) against irresponsible borrowing, advising them to plan carefully before taking out loans to avoid hindering their group’s progress. Hon. Bataringaya further stressed the importance of trustworthy leadership within SACCOs and village saving groups.
Concluding her address, the MP reiterated the need for men to actively support their wives and contribute to the overall well-being of their families, particularly by investing in their children’s education. The initiative promises to significantly improve the lives of families in Rubirizi District through economic empowerment and strengthened family structures.
