International News – The United Nations has condemned reports of extrajudicial killings in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, recently retaken by the Sudanese military.
The condemnation follows a statement by Emergency Lawyers, a human rights group, detailing field executions allegedly carried out by the Sudanese army against civilians suspected of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
A video released by Emergency Lawyers, though unverified by the Associated Press, shows individuals, some blindfolded, being fatally shot by uniformed and civilian personnel.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed his “appallment” and urged an end to the killings.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) spokesperson, Thameen al-Kheetan, stressed the need for accountability for these “serious violations.”
The OHCHR also noted a disturbing rise in online hate speech inciting violence against suspected RSF collaborators.
This violence, alongside the ongoing war between the Sudanese military and the RSF, has resulted in an estimated 20,000 deaths and displaced over 14 million people, pushing parts of the country toward famine.
The conflict, which began in April 2023, continues to destabilize Sudan.
End.
