RUBIRIZI – A 48 year old man has died after while taking waragi with his friends.
The deceased is Kabareebe Peter alias Rwakiseeta a male adult aged 48, resident of Kashenyi village, Kashenyi Parish, Rutoto Sub – county in Rubirizi district.
Its alleged that the deceased went with his friend Katabazi on 17th March 2024 at around 2:30pm to Ndyamuhaki’s bar, ordered for some crude waragi for five hundred shillings (500=) and the two, started taking it together.
During the course of taking, Kabareebe developed a sweating condition and fell down unconscious, Natukunda Sarah the wife the owner of the bar rang and iformed his husband, he immediately informed Tumuramye the brother to the deceased who came and rushed him to Rutoto SDA Health Center II but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A case of suspected poisining has been opened at Rubirizi Police Station vide DEF 004/2024, scene visited by a team of homicide detectives led by D/AIP Ngaiga David and examined by District Soco D/AIP Nabaasa Patrick.
By press time, the owner of the bar Ndyamuhaki Asaph and his wife had been detained by police to help in investigation and the body of the deceased was at Rugazi Health Centre IV pending postmortem.
The Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed this sad incident to our reporter and stressed that inquiries are still at hand to know the exact cause.
