KABALE – Police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of one Elias Twizeye a male adult Rwandeese National casual worker resident of Kirisa village Nyombe parish Kahungye sub county Kabale district.
Information was received by the OC Kahungye police post from Kabemera Sunday, the area chairman Nyombe village, on 25/03/2024 at around 02:00 am that there were unknown men who were found in Nyombe trading centre, had broken into the shop belonging to Tugyendenawe Micheal and were stealing his shop items.
He made an alarm that attracted local residents who tried to arrest and the thieves resisted leading to an escape of one, where as one was lynched on spot.
The matter was registered at Kahungye police post, the OC rushed to the crime scene and found the victim having been lynched to death and he informed the DCID Officer Kabale. A team of officers from Kabale visited the scene and documented it.
Statements were obtained and the deceased was later Identified as Twizeye Elias who was working at the home of the late Ndagijimana of Kinisa village Nyombe parish c Kahungye sub county in Kabale district as casual worker and the body was then taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The Kigezi Sub region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed this incident to our reporter stressing that inquiries on going and efforts to get those involved are being made so that are arraigned before courts of law.
