Entebbe, Uganda – A breakthrough has been made in the murder case of David and Deborah Mutanga, a beloved elderly couple from Entebbe. Police have arrested one suspect linked to the crime, which occurred in July 2025 and sent shockwaves through the community. The couple’s kindness and involvement in local activities made their murder even more heartbreaking.
The arrest was made possible after Uganda Police announced a UGX 50 million reward for information on the suspects seen in a disturbing video connected to the murder. Tips from the public helped detectives identify and track down the suspect, who is now in police custody and cooperating with investigators.
Police have conducted a reconstruction exercise at the crime scene to gather more details and compare the suspect’s story with forensic evidence. Officials are confident that additional arrests will follow as the investigation continues.

The community has welcomed the arrest, but many residents remain anxious, calling for stronger neighborhood security and more effective policing in Entebbe. Uganda Police have promised to pursue the case to its full conclusion and ensure justice is served for the Mutanga family.
