KIRUGU, RUBIRIZI – Rubirizi NRM Women Leaders Sacco under Adrine Foundation was officially launched today at Kirugu Playground, bringing together NRM women leaders from across the district at all levels. The leaders pledged to work together for economic empowerment and stronger families.
According to Hon. Nsimirwe Christine, Chairperson Elect for Rubirizi NRM Women Leaders, the Sacco aims to mobilize women to save weekly and start income-generating activities like poultry, backyard gardens, and crafts. She said this will make every household economically stable, self-reliant, and united.
“This will help women have extra income to reduce dependence on their husbands,” Hon. Christine said.

She added that the association will strengthen family participation in government programs, provide mentorship for sustainable growth, promote peace, and end domestic violence through guidance and counseling on rights awareness to create peaceful homes and safer environments.
Hon. Christine further said the initiative will unite all women, work as one group, and collaborate with husbands in raising and educating their children.
During the launch, Madam Jennifer Butegyekyi, NRM Women Chairperson for Kyabakara Sub-county, and Binomugisha Anet, Treasurer for Rubirizi NRM Women Leaders Association, encouraged women to promote family savings for economic empowerment as a key to peaceful community transformation, women unity, and home-based development.

NRM women leaders said families will have emergency funds for health, school fees, and small investments without borrowing. They emphasized ensuring every family can feed itself, meet basic needs, and improve living standards.
Meanwhile, Hon. Nuwajira Scovia, Lady Councilor for Kikumbo Parish in Kirugu Sub-county, thanked women for starting the program. She said it will help government efforts to lift Rubirizi women out of poverty and improve daily livelihoods.
Hon. Scovia asked women leaders to be role models in their homes and examples of respect. She urged women to reconcile and move forward together since elections are over, noting that women must set aside divisionism and focus on unity and empowerment.
